Daniel J. Bernstein has 25+ years of nonprofit and business management experience. He served as Operations Director at Madison Avenue BID from 1996, overseeing security, sanitation, and a $2.2 million budget. Currently, he acts as a financial consultant for Madison Avenue BID. From 2005 to 2022, Daniel was Deputy Director of Fordham Road BID, involved in startup, program implementation, and day-to-day operations. He managed fiscal matters, human resources, contracts, fundraising, and public redevelopment projects.

Daniel has a history of community service, including being an auxiliary police officer and holding positions at the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and American Cancer Society. He owned Identity Bar & Lounge from 2006-2015. Daniel enjoys playing pool in a NYC league for over 27 years.

Working at the Columbus Amsterdam Business Improvement District over the years I have developed an understanding of dynamics between Businesses, Community, and the BID. This has allowed me to have a connection to the area and be able to engage the community and the neighborhood in events to bring awareness of each other.

Erin began working with the Columbus-Amsterdam BID as a Community Outreach intern while studying at Barnard College in October 2022. She graduated in May 2023 and began her full-time position as Program Manager in February 2024. Erin primarily works in program implementation, business & community outreach, and event planning, and she loves exploring all that the Bloomingdale neighborhood has to offer.

Abigail Jack, a senior at Barnard College, began working with the Columbus-Amsterdam BID in October 2022 as an Environmental Impact intern. Now a Program Coordinator, her work focuses on mapping the BID's storefronts and vacancies, as well as planning events to engage Columbia University students with the larger community. In her free time, she enjoys exploring the city with friends and cycling to bakeries.

Laila Abed is a sophomore at Columbia University majoring in Urban Studies and Public Health, and has been interning with the Columbus-Amsterdam BID since September 2024. At the BID, she focuses on mapping properties, sharing municipal resources, and planning community events that enhance urban livability. Passionate about design and placemaking, Laila uses her GIS mapping and community engagement skills to improve city wellness. She is also deeply committed to menstrual equity, advocating for accessible health resources across communities.
