Frequently Asked Questions about The Longest Table

What do I need to bring?
We provide the tables, chairs, and tablecloths--you bring everything else (food, drinks, plates, silverware, etc.). Creative table decoration welcome!

Can I bring or order food from local restaurants?
Yes! The Columbus-Amsterdam BID is compiling a list of local restaurants that will offer takeout or delivery. Check back here for the list when we are closer to the event date..

Can I volunteer to help?
Yes! We need volunteers! Specifically, we need table captains to host tables, people to help with setup and breakdown, greeters to check people in, photographers/videographers to capture the event, and more! Teens are welcome to join us as volunteers and may be eligible for community-service credits. To learn more, contact at longesttable@w102-103blockassn.org.

What is a table captain?
Table captains are volunteers who act as mini-hosts. They organize a group to join their table --inviting friends, family, or work colleagues. They help figure out who is bringing what—it’s like organizing a picnic! Table captains can also be volunteers who agree to host neighbors they don’t necessarily know, who have come alone or with a friend. In all cases, the table captains help make everyone feel welcome and engaged.

Are kids welcome?
The Longest Table is for neighbors of all ages. We encourage you to bring your kids!

Do you have to be a Block Association resident to attend?
No! While this is hosted by the W. 102nd & 103rd Streets Block Association, friends, family, and neighbors are all welcome.

Can I come alone?
Yes! All are welcome to grab a seat at the table. Coming alone is a fantastic way to meet neighbors and new friends.
