Community Info and Resources

- NYC Childcare Tax Relief Programs: Mayor Adams announced new childcare tax credits. View the Office of the Mayor’s Childcare Plan for more information.

- Food Service Businesses: NYC Commercial Organics Requirements began on July 31. By law, staff-handled organic waste must be source separated for collection. For more information, visit here.

- Water Bill Reimbursements:  The city has launched a temporary water bill relief program that is forgiving up to 100 percent of interest when customers pay a portion or all of their outstanding bills. The amnesty program, authorized by the New York City Water Board, will only run until April 30, 2023. To receive amnesty and confirm eligibility, or for more information, visit DEP’s water amnesty website or call (718) 595-7000.

Waste Setout Times Will Change on April 1, 2023

 

As of April 1, 2023, the City of New York is taking steps to reduce the piles of bags on the curb by changing the waste setout times. New rules for setting out trash, recycling, and curbside composting go into effect on April 1, 2023. Below is a summary of those rules and how they will impact residences and businesses.

ECOQUEST: Wings in Spring

EcoQuests, part of the NYC EcoFlora Project, challenge New Yorkers to become community scientists and observe, study, and conserve the native plants, fungi, and animals of the City via iNaturalist, an easy-to-use mobile app.

VOLUNTEER WITH FRIENDS

Help beautify the Park every Second Saturday of the month, March – November. Volunteers collect trash, weeds, plant, paint, mulch, and rake. Supplies, gloves, and safety guidelines are provided.

Sean Abreu is partnering with P.S. 145 - The Bloomingdale School for a donation drive for newly arrived asylum seekers and families in transitional housing. They need basic goods like hygiene products and sanitary supplies.

Annual Spring Benefit - "Play it Forward" Celebrating 30 Years of Music Access Project

Monday, April 3rd, 6:30pm-9:00pm Scandinavia House 58 Park Ave, New York, NY 10016

Each year, Bloomingdale School of Music organizes a spring benefit punctuated with inspiring performances by Bloomingdale students and faculty. This year's event includes a variety of performances celebrating 30 years of their Music Access Project (MAP), as well as performances by MAP students themselves & appearances by MAP alumni from past years. All proceeds from the benefit will go towards scholarships and programming.

Bloomingdale's Free Faculty Concerts Series takes place most Fridays at 7pm in our David Greer Concert Hall. These events are free and open to the public.

CCC CLOTHING CLOSET 
Sundays | 10AM-2PM | Town Building

The Clothing Closet distributes emergency clothing through the Nutrition, Health, and Clothing Center, and also provides workplace-appropriate clothing for individuals returning to the workforce. Persons seeking professional clothing must have a referral from an agency familiar with their employment search. Clothing distribution is free of charge and based on availability, and clients can obtain clothing once per month. Identification is required. The Clothing Closet accepts donations of gently-used, freshly-laundered clothing. Donations can be dropped off at the Cathedral from Monday-Friday, 9AM-4PM

With no eligibility restrictions, meal services are offered to all without regard to age, gender, race, income, or denominational affiliation.
