Awilda Sosa is the owner and operator of Angel Eyes Optical, a boutique optical store located on Broadway between W. 101st and W. 102nd street. Awilda has been serving the Upper West Side for 27 years, first managing a Pildes Optical franchise and eventually buying the business and transforming it into Angel Eyes Optical.

As a small business wonder woman, Awilda emphasizes the importance of personal relationships in business: “My motto is I treat customers as I want to be treated. I go out of the norm, and if it’s within reach, I make things happen.” She credits her mother for her business acumen, who ran her own business as a home decorator and taught Awilda “the value of life”. This environment of personal care is foundational to her business, and is evident in the long term relationships she creates with her customers. Awilda has worked with children who have continued to see her into adulthood, and now bring their own families into the shop.
