NYC Childcare Tax Relief Programs: Mayor Adams announced new childcare tax credits. View the Office of the Mayor’s Childcare Plan for more information.

 

Food Service Businesses: NYC Commercial Organics Requirements began on July 31. By law, staff-handled organic waste must be source separated for collection. For more information, visit here.

The Department of Environmental Protection sent out a notice on January 30 about their water bill Amnesty Program for all customers that have fallen behind on their payments. If you owe water and wastewater charges, you may be eligible. This is a one-time-only program that will run for 90 days and is available for all customers regardless of tax class or amount of water debt.

Annual Book Drive

Internet Intermezzi II: Chamber Improv Rebooted

The events of the past two years have accelerated the development of remote collaboration technology. Zach Lapidus and Eli Asher will be joined by contemporary classical music specialist and improvisor Carrie Frey in a live concert bringing these innovations into the concert hall in an engaging set of interactive performances. Bloomingdale's Free Faculty Concerts Series takes place most Fridays at 7pm in our David Greer Concert Hall. These events are free and open to the public and can be viewed in person or via live stream. Soprano Cheryl Warfield and pianist Olga Gurevich present a musical program of arias and spirituals with historical narrative about the life and career of legendary singer Leontyne Price, the first Black soprano to sing a lead role at the Metropolitan Opera House.

This event will take place in person at Bloomingdale Library. If you have a tech problem, question, or would just like some individualized tech tutorials, this is your time to work with a librarian and receive their personal attention and instruction.

NYPL After School is a free drop-in program for kids aged 6–12 that takes place after regular school hours on Mondays through Thursdays. Join us homework help from one of our tutors or Teen Reading Ambassadors, reading recommendations, fun writing, STEAM, and enrichment activities—and even snacks! No need to register—just show up! Footprints: A Dance Workshop

A special event at the Museum of the City of New York, featuring a screening, installation, roundtable, and day-long performance centered around the uptown New York City premiere of the Zip Code Memory Project film, 'Together, Not Alone.' This event marks the three-year anniversary of the Covid-19 Pandemic in New York City by asking: What have we learned and can we do better?  

Talk to the future – A durational participatory performance with Maria José Contreras 
The artist invites visitors to step into an imagined time capsule and respond to the question: “What should future generations know about Covid?” Contreras listens carefully to participants and then inscribes their words verbatim on the time capsule.

The Cathedral is proud to partner with the New York Blood Center for a blood drive on Monday, February 13 in Synod Hall.

Appointments are encouraged. To schedule yours, visit the New York Blood Center's website. Walk-ins allowed if room and schedule capacity permits.

Please remember to eat, drink and bring your donor ID card or ID with name and photo. For eligibility information, visit nybc.org/eligibility.

 

Sunday Organ Recital: Samuel Kuffuor-Afriyie
SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 12, 2023
5 PM - 5:45 PM

 

Cathedral Organ Scholar Samuel Kuffuor-Afriyie presents a program in honor of Black History Month featuring music of Samuel Coleridge-Taylor, Mark A. Miller, and one of Samuel's own compositions, in addition to works by Felix Mendelssohn and Georg Böhm.

Following Choral Evensong on select Sundays in the fall and spring, the Cathedral hosts distinguished organists from around the world in performance. These 5 pm recitals are free to the public and 45 minutes in length.

Entry to this performance is included with admission to the Cathedral. Read more on COVID-19 guidelines for all those joining us for in-person programs and events.

 

CCC CLOTHING CLOSET
Sundays | 10AM-2PM | Town Building
The Clothing Closet distributes emergency clothing through the Nutrition, Health, and Clothing Center, and also provides workplace-appropriate clothing for individuals returning to the workforce. Persons seeking professional clothing must have a referral from an agency familiar with their employment search. Clothing distribution is free of charge and based on availability, and clients can obtain clothing once per month. Identification is required. The Clothing Closet accepts donations of gently-used, freshly-laundered clothing. Donations can be dropped off at the Cathedral from Monday-Friday, 9AM-4PM

 

CCC SUNDAY SOUP KITCHEN
Sundays | 10AM-2PM | Town Building
With no eligibility restrictions, meal services are offered to all without regard to age, gender, race, income, or denominational affiliation. Sunday Soup Kitchen meals consist of a healthy, diverse menu that includes fresh produce, a wide variety of meat/proteins, and low-salt, heart-healthy food options.
